Huron Capital’s Albireo Energy Adds a Ninth Company to Platform
Detroit, MI – November 27, 2018 – Lower-middle-market private equity firm Huron Capital today announced its building automation and energy services platform, Albireo Energy, has acquired Taylor Consulting & Contracting, a leading energy management company.
The deal marks the ninth transaction for Albireo, an ExecFactor ® initiative launched by Huron Capital to provide smart building automation and energy services to commercial and institutional customers throughout the U.S. The partnership expands Albireo’s suite of energy efficiency and automation services to include energy management and procurement.
Founded in 2004, Avoca, Pa.-based Taylor helps customers reduce their utility costs through its software-enabled procurement services.
“We chose to join Albireo because of the unique opportunity the combination affords for deepening relationships with our existing customers, extending our reach into new markets through access to capital and people, and the chance to serve existing Albireo customers with our proprietary technology and processes,” said Scott Stiner, COO of Taylor Consulting, who will remain in his role and continue to lead the current management team.
“The acquisition of Taylor Consulting is a great strategic and cultural fit that expands our ability to be the go-to partner for efficient energy usage and procurement,” said Phil Rogers, CEO of Albireo Energy. “This combination fulfills a long-held ambition of Albireo to offer our customers best-in-class procurement services.”
Huron Capital formed Albireo in 2014 with the goal of building a leading company in the fast-growing energy efficiency, building automation and energy management markets in the U.S. In addition to the Taylor Consulting & Contracting transaction, Albireo has completed eight acquisitions over the past four years. Those companies include Energy Management Control Corporation, Energy Options, Electronic Controls Systems, Energy Systems Technologies, Green Total Solutions, Sky Technologies, GxP Automation and Advance Power Control.
“The acquisition of Taylor Consulting & Contracting broadens Albireo’s portfolio of strong energy services solutions,” said Jim Mahoney, Senior Partner at Huron Capital. “We see this as another great example of how Huron Capital’s ExecFactor® buy-and-build investment model can create value at our portfolio companies.”
